Sculpture of Khan Kubrat
Khan Kubrat united the Bulgarian tribes living around the Black Sea steppes. Under the rule of the Dulo clan, they not only fought for their independence, but also created their own khanate, called Old Great Bulgaria by Byzantine historians. This marks the beginning of Bulgarian statehood, embodied in Kubrat's legacy, celebrating the unity of the people.
