Tsar Ivan Stratsimir was the ruler of the Vidin kingdom, the second son of Tsar Ivan Alexander (1331-1371) by his first wife Theodora. His reign was marked by wars, the Crusades and internal conflicts. Following the siege of Vidin by Sultan Bayazid, Tsar Ivan Stratsimir was exiled to Bursa and is believed to have ended his life in a dungeon, strangled by the Turks by order of the Sultan in 1397.

However, his active management and positions in the country for forty years are definitely a testament to the huge range of strong qualities, toughness and responsibility that you can wish to the proud new owner of this sculpture.
