SECOND STAGE – THE FIRST BULGARIAN KINGDOM

The second historical area that visitors of the Historical Park will be able to see is the First Bulgarian Kingdom.

The area will present an authentic and magnificent reconstitution of the palace of the city of Preslav with the emblematic fortress wall, scriptorium, barracks, market, royal gazebo, early Orthodox church and palace complex. Visitors will discover the First Bulgarian Kingdom, which, in addition to one of the strongest countries in Europe, was also the largest cultural center of the Slavic world. They will be able to enjoy a unique culture, a combination of Byzantine and Proto-Bulgarian traditions, which is not found anywhere else in the world. They will learn how the first Slavic script was created and came to be used by millions of people. They will also be able to try to write like our ancestors did.
The First Bulgarian Kingdom Zone is a magnificent reconstitution of the architecture of the First Bulgarian Kingdom and the Preslav Palace with its emblematic fortress wall, scriptorium, barracks, market, royal gazebo, early Orthodox church and palace complex. The First Bulgarian kingdom was characterised by the development of Byzantine and Proto-Bulgarian culture and the creation of Slavic script.
