On the 25th and 26th of September, the Historical Park will bring together the modern guardians of one of the most ancient arts, during the Second International traditional archery tournament: the largest of its kind in the Balkans.

Archery is one of the oldest arts practiced today. Our distant ancestors: the Thracians, and their Bulgar descendants were skilled archers, who owed much of their victories to the skillful use of this weapon.

In addition to the purely practical application of archery such as killing enemies and gathering game meat through the practice of this ancient art, the archer develops many skills that are important in modern everyday life such as cleansing the mind, developing concentration, training patience, building physical strength and stability.

The annual traditional archery tournament honours modern guardians of this ancient art. It is open to men, women and children. Through the authentic atmosphere in the Historical Park, the varied and challenging disciplines, the famous archers and new stars taking part, the tournament ranks among the most prestigious in the world.

The Bulgarian Archery Federation, with whose support the tournament will be held, are proof of the high status of the international event.

The tournament will take place through phases of qualifications and finals, each of which will take place on 25.09. and 26.09. In the qualification stage of the competition there are 9 disciplines, in the final stage - 5 disciplines, within which shooting will be at distances from 10 to 60 m.

In the groups of men and women there is a prize fund for:

• 1st place - 5,000 levas
• 2nd place - 2,000 levas
• 3rd place - 1000 levas

Prizes in the form of gifts will be distributed in the groups of children and youth.

The first international traditional archery tournament was held in November 2019. In it, side by side, in 7 + 1 disciplines stood the best participants from Romania, Turkey and Bulgaria. Representatives of Moldova and other neighboring Balkan countries are joining the second edition, increasing the international presence several times. Surprising disciplines, rough terrain, displacement, water surface, fortress walls, distances ranging from 10 to 60 meters, and various types of targets will become serious challenges for the competitors in this year's edition of the tournament.

On Saturday night (25.09), the organiser of the event - Historical Park, will offer a unique experience to all participants in the tournament and guests of the attraction.

The stage in front of the Thracian Palace will transport the audience to the fiery PREMIERE of the fire and laser-light show: "The King's Last Wedding". Developed by the pyrotechnic and light show group "Paliatchi", with the support of the National Fund "Culture", the performance recreates a Bulgarian historical legend related to the reign of Tsar Ivan Asen II, whose action takes place in the early thirteenth century. A very attractive fire show in which the guests of the Historical Park will become emotional witnesses of military and political actions, stylish and dangerous fire paintings, victories and tragedies. It is no coincidence that for the premiere of this show in Bulgaria, its authors chose the Historical Park, which with its unique and authentic atmosphere will strengthen the historical character of the scenario.
