The largest ancient and medieval festival of the Balkan Peninsula and the first of its magnitude after the coronavirus pandemic, "New Beginning", will take place from the 18th to the 20th of June at the Historical Park.
With this festival, we celebrate the second anniversary of the Historical Park. At the event, you will be able to see many medieval battles, evening concerts with Bulgarian music and artists and a market of medieval products from all over the world.
As guests of the festival, you will witness the announcement of the winners of the Music Composition Competition: an Anthem, which aims to inspire artists to create and perform music praising our country. You can learn more about it here.

18.06.2021 (Friday)
- 11h00 Opening of the festival
- 12h00 Presentation of the participants
- 12:30 pm Martial games "Арєтє" (Areté: "the Greatest"): presentation of the military tactics of Antiquity: ancient Thrace and Rome
- 1:00 p.m. Presentation of ancient gastronomy
- 14:00 Tournament "Стрѣльцы" (Stryltsy = "Archers") - archery with traditional bows
- 3:00 p.m. Presentation of participants' camps with on-site exhibitions and activities
- 5:00 p.m. Show "The Sons of Arès" - Thracian military ritual
- 18:00 Tournament "Меџеноша" (Mechenosha = "the Swordsmen") - Competitions of armed combat. Competitive duels "Master of the sword and the shield" and "Master of the sabre": Preliminary qualifications.
- 19h00 Award ceremony for the winners of the archery tournament "the Archers"
- 19:30 Performances of reenactors and groups near the campfire

- 11h00 - Opening of the festival day
- 11:30 am - Equestrian games "Ристанiє" - presentation of ancient martial traditions on horseback: equestrian archery; demonstration of cutting with different weapons; "djigitovka" (equestrian acrobatics) etc.
- 12:30 pm - Show by the group "Konnych Nayemnikov - Druzyna Oguz" (Opole, Poland) - exhibition of equestrian combat and stunts
- 1:00 p.m. - Presentation of medieval gastronomy
- 13:30 - Show of the group "Bagatur" - historical performance
- 2:30 p.m. - Mechenosha Tournament - Armed combat competitions. Competitive duels, "Master of the sword and shield" and "Master of the saber": Finals. Team combat and military games
- 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. - Presentation of medieval camps with on-site exhibitions
- 6:00 p.m. - Mass battle "Вϵликъ сѣчъ" (Veliky Sych = "the Great Clash") - battle between medieval warriors, "army against army"
- 19h00 - Award ceremony for the winners of the "Mechenosha" fencing tournament
- 7:30 p.m. - Festive concert celebrating the second anniversary of the opening of the Historical Park

20.06.2021 (Sunday)
- 10:00 am - Opening of the festival day
- 10:30 am - March "NEW Beginning- 1340 years of Bulgaria": a symbolic military march, celebrating the creation of the Bulgarian state
- 11:30 am - Show of the group "Bagatur" - historical performance
- 12:30 pm - Show by the group "Konnych Nayemnikov - Druzyna Oguz" (Opole, Poland) - exhibition of equestrian battles and stunts
- 1:00 p.m. - Presentation of medieval gastronomy
- 14h00 - Practical experiment "Armour against Blade": impact of various types of offensive weapons on protective equipment (Association "Tarnovtsi")
- 2:30 p.m. - Mass battle "the Great Clash" - battle between medieval warriors, "army against army"
- 3:30 p.m. - Award ceremony for the winners of the mass battle "The Great Clash"
- 4:00 p.m. - End of the festival
