On 20th, 21st and 22nd of September, the Vth International Traditional Archery Tournament will be held in the Historical Park. Many prominent archers from Bulgaria and abroad are expected to take part in the traditional competition. All participants and guests will have the unique opportunity to meet Lukas Novotny, the living legend in equestrian archery and a skilled craftsman who is the creator of the "SALUKI" bows. He will be an official guest of the tournament, thanks to the kind invitation of the Historical Park and long-term friendship with our equestrian and archery instructor Nina Yankova, founder of "SIVA", a group of archery in the Historical Park.
Lukas Novotny was born and raised in the former Czechoslovakia, where he studied glass sculpture.
He moved to the USA at the age of 21 and after many years practicing his profession as an artistic glass sculptor, he decided to cultivate his childhood passion for bows. In 1998, Lucas established the Saluki Bow Company and has since been exclusively involved in bow manufacturing and archery.
Let's end with the words of the genius creator: "I'm always researching the most efficient design and it's a continuous process. Traditional horn bows were my initial motivation, and the rich history behind them has become a constant stream of inspiration for me. I think that the use of cutting edge and technically advanced materials, combined with the best of historical traditions, is what makes me different from other manufacturers."
